Trauma Recovery
It Shows Up Uninvited and Your Whole Day Bends Around It
Something ordinary sets it off on a Tuesday afternoon, and your body responds as though it’s happening right now.
The same stretch of time comes back, and it comes back the same way it did last time.
You finish the shift, or the meeting, or the drive home, and not one person around you notices anything.
Then the night comes, and the night has always been the hard part.
What You’ve Been Calling Anxiety Started Somewhere
Most of the people who come to me for anxiety have trauma sitting underneath it.
The sleeplessness and the short fuse with people you love run downstream of something that happened to you.
Managing the anxiety works on the signal, and the signal keeps arriving because whatever sends it never got finished.
You’ve been doing maintenance on something that was asking to be resolved.
You Aimed at the Target You Were Handed
None of that was a failure of effort on your part.
Working the anxiety on its own has only ever gotten you so far.
We go at what’s underneath it instead, which is slower and holds better.
You Did What They Told You to Do
You went where you were sent.
You filled out the forms, sat through the groups, and kept every appointment on the schedule they handed you.
The place that was supposed to help didn’t, and nobody has said that to you plainly since.
If you’re a veteran, or you’ve spent a career answering other people’s emergencies and staying calm for everyone else, you already know how that goes.
Coming Back Into Your Body Won’t Feel Good at First
Learning how to be in your body again after trauma is uneasy and unwelcomed, and I’ll be right there with you for that part.
It takes practice, and it takes giving grace to all that shows up while you’re practicing.
Your body becomes the aid in that, which is the part people don’t expect.
You Don’t Need a Diagnosis to Come Here
Complex trauma, relational trauma, the things that happened to you as a child and shaped everything after: there’s room here for all of it.
Decades of this work have put me beside people in the worst hours of their lives.
Some of this happens outside with the horses, and the Equine Assisted Psychotherapy page covers what that involves.
The Somatic and Holistic Healing page lays out the body-based work itself, and this page is what it runs underneath.
You’ll Get the Ordinary Parts of Your Life Back
Most people notice sleep first.
What used to hit you as right now starts landing in the past tense.
Then the days start belonging to you again instead of to whatever might set you off in them.
You’ll be inside your own life while you’re living it, which is the entire point of the work.
Make This Call Yourself
The consultation is free, and it’s me on the other end of the phone: (717) 873-1836.
Write instead if that’s easier: patti@peacellc.org.
The work happens in person on my farm in Red Lion, Pennsylvania, with people who drive in from across Pennsylvania and Maryland.
Bring whatever shows up that day, and we’ll give it grace.
Find Your Breath Again
Finding your way out of the darkest corner of your life can feel lonely and frightening. When there’s a light to focus on, or a line to grab onto, the way starts to clear.
I’m here to be that light, that line, one step at a time, toward the place you want to be.
Take this as your opportunity to move toward hope and purpose.
Give me a call at (717) 873-1836, or send an email to patti@peacellc.org.
Let’s begin that journey.
