Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

How do I get started?

Reach out. Give me a call at (717) 873-1836 or send an email to patti@peacellc.org, and we’ll look at what works for you.

That first phone consultation is free, so we can talk things through and see if we’re a good fit before you decide anything.

How long is a session?

All of my talk sessions run about 55 minutes. The equine sessions are usually an hour.

Where are you located, and can we meet online?

Welcome to the farm. My office sits on a working horse farm at 160 Bahns Mill Road.

When you arrive, pull in front of the big gray barn right off the road. My office is the gray building next to the barn, behind the house.

If you haven’t guessed, I’m a little crunchy granola, and I prefer seeing you in person. We can work indoors, we can work outdoors, we can be out with the horses. If you need to meet online, I can make that happen on a secure platform.

What ages do you work with?

Young adults through older adults. I also do a good bit of family work through Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, where we often welcome children as young as 10.

Do you work with men, women, and couples?

Yes. I work with men and women, and I offer Equine Assisted Psychotherapy for couples.

What is your educational background?

I’m a Master’s level clinician with a post-graduate certificate in Spiritual and Existential Counseling and Therapy. On top of that, I’m an Advanced Certified EAGALA model practitioner, I completed a certificate in Mindful Education, and I’m trained in Clean Language and Symbolic Modeling.

Are you licensed?

Yes. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland.

Working with the Horses

Do I need to know anything about horses?

Nope. They don’t care whether you know anything about them. They’re always willing to share.

What should I wear if we work with the horses?

Wear your play clothes. In cold weather, make sure you layer up. And always wear a closed-toe shoe.

Is anyone else there when we work with the horses?

Great question. We always work as a two-person team, an Equine Specialist and a Licensed Mental Health Professional. You don’t need any horse experience to join us.

Just for Fun

Is your furniture comfortable?

Yes. Most people prefer the love seat.

Do I have to lie on a couch?

I do have a couch, but it’s for sittin’.

Should I wear waterproof mascara?

Good question. Do what’s best for you.

What brand of tissues do you offer?

Kleenex, usually.

Can I ask you personal questions?

Sure thing. I’ll let you know if anything is too sensitive. My own healing journey is what led me to do this work.

What apps make your life better?

Insight Timer is one of the best apps for mindfulness and meditation. And Breethe is very good for sleep.

Paper, Rock, Scissors, Lizard, Spock. Go!

Hay, manure, pitchforks, snakes, Princess Leah.

Cats or Dogs?

Dogs!!!
