Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
You’ve Already Explained This Perfectly
You can describe your problem better than anyone else in the room.
You’ve told it to therapists, to friends, and to yourself at two in the morning.
By now it comes out clean.
Nothing underneath the words has moved.
Talking About It Hasn’t Been Enough
Somebody mentioned this kind of therapy to you, and the part that caught your attention was “not too much talking.”
After decades of this work, I’ve come to believe healing is somatic before it’s cognitive.
The body moves first, and the mind catches up after.
An explanation lands in your head, which was never the part holding this.
What a Horse Notices Before You Say Anything
A horse spends its whole life reading the environment for signals: what moved, what changed, whether right now is safe.
That’s how a horse lives, and it’s how a person lives after something hard has happened to them.
The recognition runs both directions, and it arrives before either of you has done anything about it.
You won’t have to find language for any of it, because the signal you’re already sending is the whole conversation.
You Don’t Need to Know One Thing About Horses
You don’t need to know one thing about horses to do this work.
There’s no riding, no lessons, nothing out there to get right.
This is psychotherapy, done on the ground.
The worry I hear most often is about looking foolish, and I’ll answer it plainly: there’s no wrong way to do it.
You Learn How to Be Rather Than How to Do
I don’t direct the horse and I don’t direct you.
My work is reading what happens between the two of you and holding the ground steady while it does.
We talk afterward, once there’s something real to talk about.
You came out here to learn what to do.
What you’ll find first is a way of being that lets the next step show itself.
Work With the Practitioner Who Trains the Practitioners
I was first certified in the EAGALA model in 2004 and advanced certified in 2011.
Since then I’ve trained equine practitioners internationally as an EAGALA mentor and trainer.
I live on the farm where I practice, in Red Lion, Pennsylvania.
Clients drive in from across Pennsylvania and Maryland to work here in person.
Leave Knowing What Your Next Step Is
You came out here wanting the conversation in your head to quit repeating.
What most people carry home is quieter and more useful than another insight: a direction, and a body willing to move toward it.
You’ll slow down enough to ask a better question.
Then you’ll act on the answer, which is what you wanted in the first place.

Welcome back to yourself.
Find Your Breath Again
Finding your way out of the darkest corner of your life can feel lonely and frightening. When there’s a light to focus on, or a line to grab onto, the way starts to clear.
I’m here to be that light, that line, one step at a time, toward the place you want to be.
Take this as your opportunity to move toward hope and purpose.
Give me a call at (717) 873-1836, or send an email to patti@peacellc.org.
Let’s begin that journey.
